Using the above internet site select an intervention under YOUR signature assignment health topic to review and evaluate.   Make sure you review all tabs:

  • Snapshot
  • What the CPSTF Found
  • Supporting Materials
  • Considerations for Implementation

In at least three paragraphs (at least 5-6 complete sentences per paragraph), please discuss the following questions:

  1. Based on the information reviewed, briefly describe how you would use at least two intervention strategies to address the issue for your health program?
  2. What Program Planning Model will you apply to your health program and why did you choose it? (Tip: Do not choose the Generalized Model as it’s a teaching model and framework and not a unique model)
  3. Is this internet site easily accessible, easy to understand and helpful?

Please make sure to reference both your course textbook AND the website as well as any other reference used, using APA 6th Edition Format.

Using eight peer-reviewed articles, write 750-1,000-word review that includes the following sections:

Based on the information reviewed on the Community Guide website, one intervention strategy that I would use to address the issue for my health program is implementing community-wide campaigns. These campaigns involve disseminating information and raising awareness about the health issue among community members through various channels such as social media, local events, and educational materials. By engaging the entire community, including stakeholders and decision-makers, these campaigns can promote behavior change and encourage community participation in addressing the health issue.

Another intervention strategy that I would utilize is creating supportive environments. This involves modifying the physical, social, and economic environments to make healthier choices easier and more accessible for community members. For example, implementing policies to increase access to healthy food options in neighborhoods with limited grocery stores or establishing safe spaces for physical activity can contribute to improving health outcomes related to the issue.

For my health program, I would apply the PRECEDE-PROCEED model for program planning. This model provides a comprehensive framework for addressing health issues by incorporating both social and environmental determinants of health. The PRECEDE (Predisposing, Reinforcing, and Enabling Constructs in Educational Diagnosis and Evaluation) phase focuses on identifying factors that influence health behaviors, while the PROCEED (Policy, Regulatory, and Organizational Constructs in Educational and Environmental Development) phase involves planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions based on the identified determinants.

The Community Guide website is easily accessible and provides clear, concise information on evidence-based interventions for various health issues. The layout of the website is user-friendly, with tabs that organize information into sections such as “Snapshot,” “What the CPSTF Found,” “Supporting Materials,” and “Considerations for Implementation.” Each intervention is presented in a standardized format, making it easy to understand and compare different options. Overall, the website serves as a valuable resource for program planners and evaluators seeking evidence-based strategies to address community health concerns.
