Read Chapter 6 ‘Financing and Reimbursement Methods’ in your NUR 325 textbook: Essentials of the U.S. Health Care System (5th ed.) by Shi & Singh. (The eBook can be accessed through your Canvas Module).
While we would like to think that everyone has equal access to health care, this isn’t always true for all. As nurses it is important to consider the reality of how health care is distributed. Identification of distribution patterns contributes to an understanding of barriers to accessing health care that include geographic realities (urban vs. rural) and socio-economic inequities (insured vs. uninsured).
Step 2:Post an initial response to the Discussion Forum by Wednesday at 11:59 PM, Denver time (MT).
In your post, address the following prompts:
- Discuss the meaning of distribution of health care within the healthcare delivery system.
- Discuss how the distribution of health care affects access to care.
- What have you seen? Add your personal perspective from your job experience(s), if applicable.
